MathPhysics: Interactive STEM Learning
How we built an animation-first Android learning app that makes mathematics and physics intuitive through interactive visualizations, serving students in both English and Bengali.

The Challenge
Traditional STEM education relies heavily on static diagrams and memorization. Students struggle to visualize abstract concepts like vector fields, parabolic motion, or electromagnetic waves. We set out to build an app that makes these concepts tangible through interactive animations, while also addressing the language barrier faced by Bengali-speaking students.
Our Approach
We developed MathPhysics using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose with a custom animation engine built on top of Canvas APIs. Each lesson is structured around visual explanations: instead of showing a formula first, we show the animated phenomenon, then reveal the mathematics behind it. This approach aligns with research on visual learning and spatial reasoning.
The bilingual system was designed from the ground up, not bolted on as an afterthought. Every lesson, problem set, and UI string exists in both English and Bengali, with a seamless language switcher that preserves the user's progress. Firebase provides analytics, crash reporting, and remote configuration for content updates without app releases.
Results
The app launched with over 100 interactive animations covering grades 9 through 12 in both mathematics and physics. The bilingual support in English and Bengali makes quality STEM education accessible to millions of students who previously had limited resources in their native language. The custom animation engine delivers smooth 60fps visualizations even on mid-range Android devices, ensuring the experience is accessible regardless of hardware.
