FinCoach AI: Personal Finance Made Simple

The Challenge

Managing personal finances is overwhelming for most people. Existing apps either offer basic expense tracking without actionable insights, or complex investment platforms that intimidate beginners. We needed to build something that bridges the gap: an intelligent financial companion that adapts to each user's financial situation and goals.

Our Approach

We built FinCoach AI using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, following Material Design 3 guidelines for a clean, accessible interface. The AI engine uses ML Kit to analyze spending patterns and generate personalized recommendations. Firebase handles real-time sync, authentication, and serverless functions for backend processing.

Key technical decisions included implementing an offline-first architecture so users can track expenses without connectivity, using WorkManager for background processing of financial reports, and building a custom chart library for visualizing spending trends and investment performance.

Results

The app launched with over 20 financial tools spanning budgeting, investment analysis, goal tracking, and bill management. Development was completed 4x faster than estimated thanks to our AI-assisted development workflow. Early users have rated the app 4.8 out of 5 stars, praising its intuitive interface and genuinely helpful financial guidance.
